Operation Magic Sword – June 8th,2035 – Part 2

Recap:  Advent has learned of a resistance data tap on their network and have sent forces to destroy it.  We have been sent in to protect the device and clear out all hostiles.  We just engaged the enemy.

I am guessing it is due to the heavier armor he is wearing, but Ishikawa’s skin stops bubbling, and it appears the poison has quickly worn off of him.  I quickly pull out my pistol and fire a quick shot at the shieldbearer.  It is absorbed by his shield, but I am hoping that it has weakened it.  I line up a shot with my sniper rifle and let loose.  I see the shield dissipate, and the shot penetrates through is armor also to damage him.  Kabosky lines up a shot on the shieldbearer, but not liking his chances instead decides to launch a grenade at his location.  The grenade lands at his feet and ensuing explosion finishes off the shieldbearer.  Ishikawa drops down from the truck and takes cover behind a barricade adjacent to the viper.  Realizing he has flanked the viper, he lays into him with a volley from his cannon and takes him down with a critical hit.  Schulz moves from behind the truck to the side of the building to get out of the poison cloud and goes into overwatch.  Emma dashes up as far as she can and takes cover behind a park bench between the building I am on and the building the officer is in.

Whether it was from the shot from the officer that hit it or the poisonous blast from the viper, I’m glad everyone moved away from the truck as it explodes into a ball of fire.  Still having Ishikawa marked as his target, the officer leans out from cover and takes a shot at Ishikawa.  His armor absorbs some of the blast, but he does take some damage.  I hear both Schulz and Klein react as the poison continues to burn their skin.

Ishikawa realizes he is near the building our Data Interceptor is in, and decides to head into cover in that building and go into overwatch to protect it from any other ADVENT that may be in the area and headed to destroy it. Klein dashes for the corner of the building that the officer is in to get closer by stay out of his line of fire.  Kabosky moves into cover behind the cab of the burnt out truck that everyone was behind before.  He then continues on his way takes cover at the corner of the building that Ishikawa and the device are in.  Schulz dashes into cover behind a street light on the sidewalk outside the building.  I set into overwatch from my vantage point on the roof across the street.

Realizing he has no shot from where he is at, the officer starts to move across the inside of his building to reach a better vantage point.  As he crosses the window of the building, I fire off a reactionary shot that finds it mark but leaves him still standing.  He then responds by taking a shot at me.  It misses, but destroys the wall in front of me.  It must have been a supporting wall of some sort as the roof beneath me gives way, and I fall to the floor of the building below.  Luckily, the fall was short enough that I am not hurt.  Unluckily, the debris must have landed on something combustible as there is suddenly an explosion and I feel the resulting shrapnel dig into my skin.  Once more, I hear the sounds of Klein and Schulz as they react to the poison further burning their skin.

Sensing her chance, Klein jumps in the window and moves behind the officer.  I see her pull out the Skulljack and drive it deep into the neck of the officer.  As it digs in, Dr. Tygan lets us know that we now have complete access to the ADVENT psionic network.  He is dedicating all our systems to processing all the new data we have, but says that he knows it is only a matter of time before our intrusion is detected.
