Operation Magic Sword – June 8th,2035 – Part 1
We just received word of a new guerilla operation we are going to undertake in Cairo. The resistance has set up a data tap into the ADVENT network in this area on an access point. ADVENT has picked up on this signal and is moving to destroy the emplacement. Our job is to eliminate any enemies in the area and protect our Data Interceptor Device. Along with myself, Cpt. Robertson, the squad consists of Lt. Ishikawa, Sgt. Kabosky, Sgt. Klein, and Sgt. Schulz. Klein is bringing along the Skulljack device that command and engineering has wanted us to use. With this device, we may be able to tap into the neural network that ADVENT is using with its troops and get an idea of what they are up to.
We drop into an abandoned highway, and Central advises us that enemy forces are already on their way towards the resistance data tap. Klein takes point and moves into cover behind an abandoned truck. Not seeing any enemy units, she continues to move forward and into cover at the corner of a nearby building. From her position there, she spots an ADVENT Officer and Shieldbearer. Dr. Tygan points out that the officer would make an ideal target for the Skulljack. I move near the side of the building and then use the grappling hook from my suit to quickly scale the building and reach the roof. I then move to the edge of the building and into partial cover behind a half wall overlooking the street below. Kabosky dashes up and takes cover behind a small barricade on the street just down from the ADVENT forces. Schulz moves up and takes cover behind an electronic sign on the side of the building. Ishikawa moves up and takes cover being an electronic sign on the corner of the street.
The ADVENT troops dash down the street away from us on their way towards the resistance’s Data Interceptor Device. We need to strike and strike quickly, but we want to take advantage of the fact that they are not aware of our presence yet. Kabosky moves up behind a street sign further down the road. Before he can move further or do anything, he spots three viper units on the roof of the building across the street. Luckily, they have not noticed us yet, but this now makes the fight five on five instead of the five on two it was before. I move onto the adjacent wall of the roof I’m on to get a better line of fire on the officer and shieldbearer. Ishikawa dashes up and into cover behind a vending machine on the side of the building just up from Schulz. Klein dashes up and into cover behind a truck parked just next to the street sign that Kabosky is behind. Schulz moves into cover behind the truck also. Still having a moment to prepare, Schulz, Kabosky, and myself set into overwatch in case we are spotted.
The officer and shieldbearer continue on unaware of us towards our device. The vipers must be on sentry duty, as they do not move from the rooftop. Ishikawa climbs up into the bed of the truck and goes into cover behind the cab of the truck. Kabosky moves from street sign and into cover behind a broken down fridge behind the building we’re by. We decide that now is the time. Ishikawa, Kabosky, Schulz, and myself all set into overwatch, and we wait for Klein to set things into motion. From her position behind the truck she looks over her options for available shots and decides to take aim at a viper on the roof. She critically hits and drops him with one shot.
As the other two vipers scramble for cover, Ishikawa takes a shot and hits one as it slithers away. Schulz finishes that one off from his position. As the officer takes off for cover, Kabosky takes a shot at him but misses, and the officer ducks into a building across the way and into cover. From his spot in cover, the officer marks Ishikawa as the target for them to focus on. He then takes a shot at Ishikawa, but misses and the bullets instead tear into the cab of the truck. The shieldbearer moves away from all of us. His fist beings to glow red and then he slams it into the ground, and that same red glow now encompasses him and the officer completely. It seems the he has provided some sort of kinetic shield to them somehow. The one remaining viper drops from the building and into cover behind a street sign across the street. He opens his mouth and spits some kind of green and purple goo. As it lands, it splashes onto Klein, Schulz, and Ishikawa and starts to burn their skin with the poison inherent in it and forms a poisonous cloud.

I have been an avid gamer for 32 years now. It started with the Atari 2600 my parents bought me as a child (my mom still says she regrets that decision), and I have never looked back. For my gaming, I enjoy RPG and strategy games the most, but I will play almost all games. Besides gaming, I am a family man (beautiful wife and three wonderful children) and a healthcare IT professional. So, gaming time is a premium for me, but I make the most of every chance I get.
