It is officially the last day of the Ultimate Games Sales. If you haven’t picked anything up I highly suggest checking out the list of games on sale. Unfortunately I may have gone a little over board with sale by picking up more games than I need. Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July last week. Based on the conversations on Discord (which you haven’t joined do it. It is the best way to really participate in the community) it looked like everyone had a really good time. There were a pretty good group of questions on the Facebook post this week and I won’t be able to get to them all.
There have only been a few games that I have gone through and gotten every achievement for and completed 100%. Thanks to the Xbox App this has made it pretty simple to go back through and see which games I have completed 100%. I am not going to include Tell Tale games because just completing those will give you a full 1,000 gamerscore. So, excluding those games I have only 100% completed one game: Oblivion. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is that game for me. That game just called to me in a way that no other game has, which ties me into the next question.
There was an article in Game Informer or some other magazine before the Xbox 360 launched. There were a few things that I remember about the article. For one, it was the cover story and ultimately pushed me to want to buy a 360. If you remember Oblivion was supposed to be a launch game but ended up getting delayed a few months. This game was the reason I bought an Xbox 360. The second thing that I remember from the article was a picture comparing a door in Oblivion to a photo. I was blown away by how amazing the in-game door looked. At the time it was by far the best graphics I had ever seen in my life. I probably put over 250 hours into Oblivion. If the game was released as a backwards compatible title I would be all over it. The game very much lived up to my expectations. It even exceeded them. When Skyrim came out I picked up the game at midnight and played all morning until my first class started.
I am pretty sure the Bros will agree with me on this one: Console vs Console or PC vs Console is a waste of breath. Console wars are really stupid. Let’s say that you like Country music but not Rap. Okay, now you walk down the street and have a conversation with some random person about music. You find out their favorite style of music is Rap. You don’t go on fighting and arguing with the random person because they like Rap. Each person has their own opinion and is entitled to it. Some people prefer to game with a mouse and keyboard and others like the feel of a controller in their hands. The only people who care about the console wars or partake in them are either trolls trying to upset someone or someone who is too passionate. If PC gaming continues to grow it is a bonus for Xbox players if developers take advantage of the Universal Windows Platform. If console gaming grows that is cool too because the vast majority of large triple AAA titles (which are the biggest sellers) are going to be available on the PC as well. Just remember that we are a group of positive gamers who are creating a community that welcomes gamers of all types. Whether you play on PC, Xbox or another console your are welcome to be a part of what the Bros are building.
That is all for this week’s edition of Coffee Break Mailbag. Remember to stay positive! Have a good week and don’t forget to check out the Ultimate Games Sales. Today is your last chance to get a hold of the games on discount. Feel free to send any questions you have to me on Twitter @TheZoolabus and add me on Xbox Live (ZooLaBus).
